The Bombay

A Historical Fiction account of the voyage of the Bombay

available free on Wattpad (WIP)

The Bombay Rugby Club was formed just over 20 years after the descendants of the Bombay settled in the area in 1888 not content with the backbreaking work of clearing bush and farming during the week, the hardy folk sought release from the daily toil with a weekend game of Football.

I will write more about the history soon, but I wish to share sad news from the Clubs Facebook page of the original clubrooms burning down. I hope all supporters and descendants of the Bombay will stand behind the club and offer any assistance, purchase merchandise or just share and voice there support.

A sad day for Bombay Rugby Club….

Unfortunately in the early hours of this morning “The Hive” was significantly damaged by fire.

“The Hive” has a long history, the original clubrooms but in most recent years has been the changing rooms for our senior teams.

However more than just changing rooms, “The Hive” has been a place where many would gather for pre and post match game preparations & celebrations.

A place to share a chat, a drink, some food and many good times.

The now scorched walls have seen many, wins and losses, championship celebrations, music played, gym sessions, players from many walks of life coming together and creating brotherhoods that will last a lifetime.

Walls signed by players, coaches and team management, ball boys & supporters depicting the themes and journeys of the Premier McNamara Cup Championship teams from 2014-2019.

We are hoping to salvage as much of that memorabilia as possible however in the interim we are unable to access the building while fire service investigators do their part and insurance can be sorted to restore or rebuild, whatever the case may be.

Rest assured that all involved with the club will do what they can to bring “The Hive” back buzzing.
