Edward Hall was aged 45 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Edward was born on the 26th of May,1814 in Derrymore, County Armagh, Northern Ireland to John Hall and Mary Kirker.
Edward married Margret Kirker on the 16th of August,1839 in Keady, County Armagh and soon after marrying the couple moved to Liverpool, residing at 99 Limekiln Lane and where they both worked in the linen warehouse of Bingham and Co.
During the voyage of the Bombay, Edward helped save the ship by using his axe to cut the main mast free, also being a Cooper by trade Edward made buckets for the crew and passengers to help bail out the water.
The Hall family settled in Williamson Clearing, later renamed Bombay as part of the Waikato Immigration Scheme, but in later life will move to Cabbage Tree Swamp where Edward worked as a Cooper and a Milkman.
Edward died on the 16th of November,1888 and is buried in Symonds Street Cemetery in Auckland.

Margret Hall (Maiden name Kirker) was aged 46 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Margret was born on the 18th of December,1816 in Drumgergue Parish of Keady, in County Armagh Northern Ireland to Mary Williamson and Archibald Kirker.
Margret acted as a Matron on-board the Bombay.
Margret lived until the 24th of September,1898 and is buried at Symonds Street Cemetery alongside her husband.

Thomas died after falling from a loft at his workplace of Bingham’s and Co.’s Linen Warehouse, he had fallen and landed on a upturned pencil which pierced his brain through his ear.
Jane Hall. Jane was born on the 3rd of April,1842 in Liverpool?.
Mary Simpkin. Mary was born on the 1st of December,1844 in County Armagh, and married James Simpkin on the 24th of May, 1867 in Auckland.
Eleanor Watson. Eleanor was born on the 16th of April,1846 in County Armagh and married Hugh Henry Watson on the 2nd of October,1867.
Rebecca Bevin. Rebecca was born on the 29th of November,1848 in County Armagh and married George Daniels Bevin in 1869.
Samuel Hall. Samuel was born in 1851 and married Amy Robinson on the 23rd of April,1877.

Joseph and his wife Jane travelled with his parents and siblings on the Bombay. Joseph worked as a carpenter and lived in Seafield View in Parnell, Auckland where he died in 1891.

Jane Hall was aged 22 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Jane was born on the 3rd of April,1842 in Ireland. It would appear Jane did not marry and lived with her parents at Cabbage Tree Swamp, named after the tree and the areas predisposition to flooding, in 1877 the Hall family along with the few other residents lobbied for a name change, the area will eventually be called Sandringham and Cabbage Tree Swamp Road will be known today as Kingsland Road, Cabbage Tree Swamp is now the home of Eden Park.

Jane died from a epileptic fit on the 25th of September,1871 and is buried at Symonds St Cemetery, Grafton, Auckland, New Zealand.

Mary Hall was aged 20 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Mary was born on the 1st of December,1844 in County Armagh, and married James Simpkin on the 24th of May,1867 in Auckland.
James was born on the 6th of September,1856 in Lenton, Nottingham, England to Hannah Smith and William Simpkin. James came to New Zealand on the Claramont arriving 25th of March,1863.
Mary died on the 1st of October,1885 and James remarried to a Christina Tucker on the 10th of October,1887. James died on the 7th of August,1923.

Edward Benjamin Simpkin. Edward was born on the 18th of March, 1870 and married Annie Marsden on the 24th of Febuary,1890, after Annie died a few years later Edward married Nellie Hewlett then Isabella Duncan.
Samuel Simpkin. Samuel was born on the 31st of May,1871 and married Charlotte Ann Simpkin on the 20th of Febuary,1890.
James Simpkin. James was born in 1874 and married Mary Dreadon in 1901, when Mary died in 1915 James married Phyllis Emma Ross on the 6th of April,1916.

Margret Simpkin. Margret or Maggie as she was known was born in 1874 but died on the 4th of March,1896.

Eleanor Simpkins. Eleanor was born in 1876 but died a year later.
Rebecca Dudding. Rebecca was born on the 11th of September,1877 and married George Edwin Dudding on the 1st of March,1899.
William George Simpkin. William was born on the 28th of November,1878 but died shortly after on the 14th of January,1879.
Mary Eliza Simpkin. Mary was born on the 26th of January,1880 but died on the 30th of January,1880.
Thomas Hall Simpkin. Thomas was born on the 20th of August,1881 and died on the 30th of January,1889.
Hannah Hook. Hannah was born on the 12th of March,1883 and married Percy John Hook on the 6th of July,1904.

Eleanor Hall was aged 18 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Eleanor or Ellen as she preferred was born on the 16th of April,1846 in County Armagh, Ireland and married Hugh Henry Watson on the 2nd of October,1867 in the Office of the Register in Alexandra, Otago, South Island.

Henry drowned on the 27th of June,1905 in the Manuherikia River, and a inquest was held the following month. Eleanor lived until the 5th of Febuary,1936 in Colombo Street, Christchurch.

Margret Jane McConnochie. Margret was born on the 3rd of July,1868 and married James Reid McConnochie on the 12th of November,1886.
William James Watson. William was born on the 2nd of September, 1871 and married Isabella Pearson in 1907.
Mary Hall Mellor. Mary was born on the 3rd of March,1873 and married George Mellor in 1898.
Rebecca Harriet McKenzie. Rebecca was born on the 6th of Febuary, 1875 and married Alexander McKenzie in 1898.
Edward Hall Watson. Edward was born in 1877 and married Isabella Holt in 1899. Edward worked as a miner and engineer and worked in Siberia. “Edward Hall Watson was elected president…at a mass meeting of the mining fraternity held at Bodaibo. This is the first time that a foreigner has filled such a position in Siberia.” – The Mining Magazine Aug 1919 21 (2) p.103.
Edward with his wife travelled to Japan, United States then to Liverpool in 1919 and finally London where he was Initiated as a Freemason at the Welcome Lodge, 86 St James’s Street, Westminster. Edward died on the 27th of November,1920 in Rangoon Hospital, Burma from complications from Malaria.

Hugh Henry Watson jnr. Hugh was born on the 26th of October, 1879 and married Alice Maud Dorothy Combridge in 1919 in London. Hugh also worked in mines as a manager.
Eleanor Isabel Watson. Eleanor was born on the 6th of January,1882. it is not thought Eleanor married.
Alexander Thomas Watson. Alexander was born on the 30th of November,1884. Alexander also worked in mining and worked in England, Canada, Colombia, South Africa and Malaysia. Alexander had married Marguerite Gladys Curryer in Surry, England in 1921.


Amy Winifred Baguley. Amy was born in 1887 and married John Baguley in 1933.
Rebecca Hall was aged 15 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Rebecca was born on the 29th of November,1848 in County Armagh, Ireland and married George Daniels Bevin in 1869.
George was born in 1843 in Marton, Cheshire, England, and was the eldest son of farmer Thomas Bevin and Elizabeth Hart who worked the Hill Top Farm of 29acres. George came to New Zealand on the SS Auckland in December,1866, and worked amongst other occupations as a butcher. In July,1880 George was elected to the Karangahape District Board.

Rebecca died in her residence in Newton Road, Auckland on the 27th of August,1881 after a protracted illness and is buried Symonds Street Cemetery. George lived to May,1912.

George Daniels Bevin. George was born on the 19th of August,1872 and married Maud Lucy Russell in 1899.

Margret Elizabeth Heath. Margret was born on the 5th of March, 1874 and married Bernard Cuthbert Heath on the 11th of April,1898.
Edward James Bevin. Edward was born in 1876 and married Kate O’Keefe in 1900.

Rebecca Howse. Rebecca was born in 1878 and married William Thomas Howse on the 18th of June,1902.
Mary Helena Bevin. Mary was born in 1879, but died on the 5th of December,1881 at her parents residence.

Emma Lillian Newbold. Emma was born in 1881 and married Frank Septimus Newbold in 1898.
Samuel Hall was aged 13 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Samuel was born on the 5th of March,1851 in Keady, Armagh. Samuel assisted with teaching the younger children on the Bombay during the voyage.

Samuel attended night school when he arrived in New Zealand and also went gold prospecting in Thames. Samuel married Amy Robinson on the 23th of April,1877 in Pukekohe and took over the Bombay farm when his father moved to Penrose, Auckland to continue working as a Cooper.

Amy was born on the 24th of March,1856 in Auckland and was the youngest daughter of Joshua Robinson and Elizabeth Jones. Joshua was from Bermondsey in London and Elizabeth from Bangor in Wales, and had came on the Louisa Campbell to Auckland in 1842. The family farmed in Pukekohe East, but returned to Auckland during the Waikato War. Joshua was regarded as the father of Auckland teetotalers, and in the year of his death in 1899, papers mentioned his 67 years of being dry, and being able to walk to the top of Rangitoto Volcano and back.

Amy died aged 28 years old on the 11th of December,1883 at her residence on Gloucester Street, Newton from Typhoid, leaving four children behind .

Samuel remarried to Emily Hill on the 7th of August,1895 and had further children, he died in Mount Albert, Auckland on the 21st of January,1931, his second wife lived to 1945.

Elizabeth Margaret Westwell. Elizabeth was born on the 18th of March,1878 and married William Westwell-Turnstall on the 1st of December,1920 in Adelaide. Elizabeth died on the 16th of July,1959 in Footscray, Victoria, Australia.

Ellen Lydia Baguley. Ellen was born in 1879 and married John Baguley on the 11th of March,1903. Ellen died in 1912 possibly in giving birth.

Thomas Hall. Thomas was born in 1881 and married Eliza Jane Johnston on the 31st of March,1909.

Mabel Jane Baguley. Mabel was born on the 12th of May,1883 and married Charles William Henry Baguley in 1907. Charles was the younger brother of John.

Tempie Maud Barker. Tempie was born on the 27th of April,1896 and married George Barker on the 31st of May,1933. Tempie died on the 24th of November,1974 and is buried in Bombay Presbyterian Cemetery.
Gilbert Samuel Hall. Gilbert was born on the 2nd of December,1898. Gilbert served in WW1 with the Auckland Infantry Battalion but died on the 8th of June,1917 in Flanders. A relative recalls that Gilbert lied about his age to enlist in 1915, and that his father could have stopped him from enlisting but didn’t feel he should.

Archibald Kirker Hall. Archibald was born on the 23rd of Febuary, 1900 and married Sylvia Alice Rowe in 1939.

Alfred Edward Hall. Alfred was born on the 4th of March,1902, and worker as a farmer and bushman. Alfred is not known to have married.

Harold Benjamin Hall. Harold was born on the 16th of April,1904 and married Margret Ruth Bush in 1933. Harold also worked as a farmer.
Ivy Emily Mohring. Ivy was born on the 25th of November,1906 and married Fredrick James Mohring on the 21st of June,1933.
Alice Esther Hawkins. Alice was born on the 25th of November,1906 and married John Joseph Hawkins on the 1st of October,1938.
Robert John Hall. Robert was born on the 9th of September,1910 and married Margret Buchanan on the 11th of June,1938.
Thomas Henry Hardwick was aged 23 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Thomas was born in January 1841 in Bath, England and Christened on the 24th of January in Walcot Saint Swithins to Mary Ann Davis and Mason Thomas Hardick.

Thomas married Sarah Loader on the 17th of June,1860 and lived in 14 Walcot Street, Bath where Thomas worked as a Porter. In New Zealand Thomas worked as a Bricklayer and worked at various locations, when Sarah died Thomas remarried to Mary Jenkyns on the 8th of June,1871 in Kaipara.
Mary was born on the 27th of August,1854 in Omana, near Tangowahine to Richard Jenkyns and Elizabeth Sparrow, Thomas did not have any known children with his first wife.
Thomas died in 1874, after being injured while bricking a well at the Te Kopuru Mill. Thomas is buried in a paddock in the vicinity of the site a few days later. Mary remarried to a George Mills in 1876 and died on the 17th of August,1936 in Dargaville.

Allan Hardwick. Allan was born on the 7th of September,1869 and married Alice Mary Williams in 1893.
Thomas Henry Hardwick jnr. Thomas was born on the 17th of March, 1874 and died on the 12th of Febuary,1892.

Sarah Hardwick (Maiden name Loader) was aged 27 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Sarah was born on the 26th of April,1835 in Bedminster, Somerset to Sarah Hinton and Phillip Loader. In the 1841 Census Sarah is a orphan and living with her brother Ebenezer at George Muellers Orphanage in Bristol, in 1851 Sarah was a Orphan and Scholar while her brother had gained employment as a Apprentice Carpenter.

Soon after arriving in New Zealand, Sarah was sent to the Karori Asylum in Wellington where she died on the 19th of Febuary,1870.

However it would appear the Asylum was badly run and Sarah mistreated, a investigation was launched and was reported in the below article.

Joseph Harrison was aged 27 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Joseph was born on the 3rd of December, 1837 in Saint Clements Danes in the Westminster area of London as the youngest child to Samuel Harrison and Susannah Miles, Joseph was baptized soon after on the 25th of Febuary,1838 at the Wesleyan Chapel in Great Queen Street, London and was living at 52 Stanhope St.
In 1851 Joseph was working as a errand boy but by 1854 had joined the Royal Navy, signing on for ten years as a 1st class boy on the “Waterloo” and then as Able Seaman on the “Royal Albert.” Joseph would have medals for Turkey and the Crimea.

On the 21st of March,1861 Joseph brought his discharge from the Royal Navy and was residing back at Stanhope St, on the 4th of May,1863 in Swanscombe, Kent, Joseph married Eliza Gosling. In New Zealand the family moved around Auckland and the Waikato where James worked as a plumber, but by 1905 he was a Whitesmith and living in Parnell, and for there Golden Wedding in 1913, at 45 Surrey St, Grey Lynn.
Joseph died on the 5th of March,1919, in Hamilton and is buried in Hamilton East Cemetery.

Eliza Harrison (Maiden name Gosling) was aged 21 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Eliza was born on the 4th of November,1842 at 18 Stacey Street, Saint Giles in the Fields, London to William Gosling and Mary Ann Goff.
In the 1861 Census Eliza was living in Swanscombe, Kent, England and working as a Servant, on the 4th of May,1863 Eliza and Joseph were married at that location.

Eliza and Joseph departed England with a baby girl, and with Eliza heavily pregnant, Eliza gave birth soon after arriving in Auckland while waiting at Onehunga Barracks to head south to Williamson Clearing, sadly the baby died a few days later. Eliza and Jane celebrated a golden wedding on the 4th of May,1913 at there residence of 45 Surrey Street.

Eliza died on the 18th of September,1928 in Hamilton and is buried with her husband in Hamilton East Cemetery.

Jane Harrison. Jane was born on the 8th of April,1865, soon after her family had arrived in Auckland, but died just a few days later on the 20th of April at the Onehunga Barracks where the families were quartered waiting to head to Williamson Clearing.
Emily Plaw. Emily was born on the 28th of June,1866 in Tuakau, and married Sydney Walter William Plaw on the 31st of January,1887. Emily died on the 21st of August,1939 in the Bay of Islands.

Louisa Cadwallader. Louisa was born on the 3rd of Febuary,1868 in Tuakau and married Benjamin Cadwallader on the 31st of January 1887.
Arthur Harrison. Arthur was born on the 20th of September,1870 in Thames, but died on the 12th of August,1874.

Mary Ann Howe (Maiden name Hobson) was aged 39 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Mary was born in Stretham, Cambridgeshire in 1825 to John Hobson and Susannah Tarry. Mary Ann worked as a Straw Maker.

Mary died on the 14th of Febuary,1891 at Onetai, Thames after a long battle with skin cancer.

Susanna Tarry Green. Susanna was born in 1846 and married Thomas Henry Green on the 18th of October,1865.
George Hobson Howe. George was born in January,1848 but died on the 19th of March,1849.

Agnes Christley. Agnes was born on the 15th of Febuary,1852 and married George Allen Christley on the 9th of Febuary,1876.
Alfred Howe. Alfred was born on the 22nd of July,1854 and married Elizabeth Ann Brown on the 16th of September,1876.
Susanna Tarry Howe was aged 20 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Susanna was born in 1846 in Wicken, Cambridgeshire and married Thomas Henry Greene shortly after arriving to New Zealand, on the 18th of October,1865 at Parsonage House in Drury. Thomas was also a passenger on the Bombay.
The Bishop Vicesimus Lush wrote in his diary on the 18th July,1865. “Last Saturday I left Parnell for my new Missionary duties…. The house I now occupy the Bishop calls ‘the Parsonage’, Drury: it is a small 3 roomed house, two doors opening to the outside: each room is about 12 x 12. In the two bedrooms there is an iron bedstead with two pairs of blankets to each, and a counterpain — and mattress and bolster. In one of the bedrooms in addition to the bedstead there is a small wash hand stand, basin, jug — and two towels: in the sitting room an inverted box serves as a table and there are two chairs, two cups and saucers — one or two knives and forks, 3 plates, and milk jug and 3 or 4 tin canisters. This house and the accommodation therein is what the Bishop estimates as sufficient for the wants of his Clergy.”

Thomas and Susanna lived in Thames with there niece Martha Christey. Thomas died on the 21st of Febuary,1914 and Susanna on the 27th of Febuary,1915, both are buried together at Omahu Cemetery in Thames.

Mary died soon after arriving to New Zealand on the 8th of May, 1866 at Maketu (Ramarama) near Bombay from Consumption.
Agnes Howe was aged 11 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay. Agnes was born on the 15th of Febuary,1852 and married George Allen Christey on the 9th of Febuary,1876 at her sisters house in MacKay Street, Thames.

George was born in Hobart, Tasmania on the 31st of August,1853 to Elizabeth Johnston and Allen Christey. Agnes died on the 22nd of March,1909 and George on the 9th of November,1935, both are buried at Waihi Cemetery.

Martha Caroline Christey. Martha was born on the 12th of June,1878. Martha did not marry and lived with her aunt Susanna in Thames.

Hilda Rosa Howe. Hilda was born on the 1st of August,1886 but died a year later on the 13th of August,1887.
John Howe. John was born on the 18th of March,1889 and served in WW1 with the 24th Reinforcements, E Company (42106) on his return John married Jessie Lanning on the 25th of April,1918.

Harold Howe. Harold was born on the 8th of November,1890, but died on the 4th of November,1892.
Eva Howe. Eva was born on the 1st of June,1893, but died on the 11th of July,1893.
Bertha Agnes Strong. Berth was born on the 29th of June,1894 and married Percy Alfred Strong in 1914.

Alfred Lewis Howe. Alfred was born on the 5th of March,1896 and died on the 25th of December,1949.
Eva Lyle Howe. Eva was born on the 20th of July,1898 and married Jens Kofoed Spanner on the 20th of September,1922. Jens was from Denmark and died in 1930. Eva remarried to Fredrick William Waldron in 1938.
Mabel May Howe. Mabel was born on the 30th of July,1900 and first married Walter Hector McDonald Hancock in 1922 then Archibald Cooper Croad Benson.
John Hughes was aged 18 years old at time of registering passage for the Bombay.
