Wright, Jacob Henry. Aged 24 years old. Jacob was born on the 9th of February, 1840 in the Mousehole, Cornwall, England. The sixth child of Henry and Rebecca Wright. Jacobs father was a successful Sea Captain and Ship owner. Jacob attended school and passed a navigation exam in 1856 with the families expectations of following after his father of a life at sea. However Jacob took to farming instead working for fellow Bombay passenger Robert Bilkey and also marrying his daughter Jane. Jacob did return to the sea on occasion, but perhaps due to several family members drowning decided land was safer. His family family did not approve of the marriage to Jane Bilkey as they were seen to be in a lower class,or pig farmers and a family rift developed. Jacob kept a journal of the Voyage of the Bombay (not published). On arrival Jacob and Jane acquired a 100 acre farm on the top of Pukekohe Hill, Auckland selling it in 1871 to return to England for eighteen month on the death of his father. They returned to Auckland and purchased the 300 acre Boscarne farm on the Buckland side of the Hill. Jacob was a volunteer in the Pukekohe Rifles and held the rank of Second Lieutenant, was on several Boards and Committees in the area. and a correspondent for the New Zealand Herald, he died on the 28th of July 1902 from pneumonia and hepatitis.

Wright, Jane Edwards (nee Bilkey). Aged 23 years old. Jane was born on the 19th of June, 1841 in Ludgven, Cornwall, England. Jane is the daughter of fellow Bombay passengers Robert and Janefer Bilkey, her brothers and sisters also emigrating with them. Jane married Jacob Wright on the 27th of November 1861, in Penzance, and she will live until 1st of October 1927. Jacob and Jane’s children are:
Henry Wright. Henry was born on the 6th of October, 1862, Henry survived the voyage of the Bombay, but died shortly after arriving to New Zealand.
Rebecca Jane Wilkinson. Rebecca was born on the 14th of May 1864, and married Thomas Wilkinson.
Jacob Henry Wright. Jacob was born in June, 1866, he married Catherine Henwood, then later Annie Maude Spittal.
Robert Treeve Wright. Robert was born in 1868, he married Louisa Maud Johns. Robert brought the first car in the area of Buckland, Auckland, it was a Model T Ford.
Adolphus Wright. Nicknamed Dolf, he was born in 1870 and married Ellen Roose.
Edwin Bilkey Wright. Edwin was born in 1875 in Cornwall, England when his parents made a return visit. Edwin married Annie Catherine Court.
Laura Eugenie Wilkinson. Laura was born in 1878, she married Robert Fisher Wilkinson, brother of her elder sisters husband.
Cleo Montefred Wright. Cleo was born in 1880. Also known as Monty he married Violet Lodge.
Ethel Faulder. Ethel was born in 1883, she went on to marry George Derwent Faulder.

Wright, Henry. Aged 2 years old. Henry was born in on the 6th of October, 1862 in Tredinney, Cornwall, England. Henry survived the voyage of the Bombay but died shortly after arriving in Auckland, New Zealand from ulceration of the bowel, the date was 11th of June, 1865 in Mount Albert, Auckland.

Wright, Rebecca. Aged 6 months old. Rebecca, nicknamed Reddy, was born in 1864 on the 14th of May in Tredinney, St Buryan Parish, just a few months before making the voyage on the Bombay. Rebecca travel back with her parents to Cornwall, England in 1874, and returning to Bombay when 13., Rebecca played the organ at Saint Andrews Church in Pukekohe and was known as a bright-eyed buxom lady that enjoyed elaborate frocks and hats, she married in November 1883, aged nineteen to a Thomas Wilkinson from Cumberland, England who had arrived with his parents in 1880 to Auckland. Thomas was well educated and had attended the Royal Agricultural Collage in Cirencester, they moved to Whatawhata, New Zealand to farm, this did not prove successful and they returned to Pukekohe, later they tried farming in Canterbury which proved more successful. Rebecca moved away from the farm to live in Christchurch, this was to allow her daughters to have a education. Rebecca made several trips to England, and was known to have brought back furs and frocks, her last visit was in 1929 visiting her daughter Grace. Her children were very musical and noted for beautiful singing voices. Rebecca died on the 1st of February, 1931 in Christchurch, New Zealand, from a cerebral hemorrhage. Rebecca and Thomas’s children are:
Thomas Wilkinson. Thomas was born in June 1884, and married Annie Gibson.
Edith Wilkinson. Edith was born in 1886, she died one year later.
Basil Wilkinson. Basil was born in 1887, he married Margret Gibson, then later Eileen Aitken.
Francis Wilkinson. Born 1889, died serving in WW1 in France 1916.
Pearl Blain. Pearl was born in 1890, she married Thomas Blain, then later John Orchard.
Daisy Gardiner. Daisy was born in 1893, and she married Norris Athol Gardiner.
Norman Robert Wilkinson. Norman was born in 1895, and married Dorothy Smith.
Ivy Adele Wilkinson. Ivy was born in 1897, however she died on 20th of September, 1910.
Iris Olive Murray. Iris was born in 1899, she married Andrew Shirlaw Murray.
Corona Alexandra Orchard. Corona was born in 1902, she married John Orchard, Corona died in 1949 and John remarried to her elder sister Pearl.
Grace Jane Jackson. Grace was born in 1904, she married Edward Jackson in Bow Church, London. Grace studied and performed music abroad, including studying in Berlin, Germany at the time Hitler had came to power.
Dallas Wilkinson. Dallas was born in 1910, and married Eoin McQueen.

Wykes, Read. Aged 45 years old. Read was born in Groby, Leicestershire in 1820, to parents Thomas Wykes and Sally Read. Read was the eldest child and had two younger sisters and worked as a cobbler and boot maker. Read married Sarah Webster and were both staunch Wesleyan’s, they will make a family home in Karaka St, Newton, Auckland, until death in 1888.
Wykes, Sarah (nee Webster). Aged 41 years old. Sarah was born in 1823 in Markfield, Leicestershire, England. Sarah died in 1903. Read and Sarah’s children are:
Elizabeth Watts. Elizabeth was born in 1848 and married Henry Watts in 1870.
Sarah Streeter. Sarah was born in 1850 and married Samuel Charles Streeter in 1872.
Mary Ann Wills. Mary was born in 1859 and married Reverend Thomas John Wills in 1882.
Fredrick Read Wykes. Fredrick was born on the 23rd of February, 1862 and married Zillah Hadfield Robinson in 1894.
Wykes, Elizabeth. Aged 16 years old. Elizabeth was born in 1848 in Groby, Leicestershire, she married Henry Watts in Auckland 1870. Henry was from the Isle of Wight, and was a painter, he came from a family of painters including painting the boat America, that had crossed the Atlantic to take part in the first regatta that later became known as the America’s Cup and the Royal yacht Britannia. Henry lived until 1903 and Elizabeth until 1931. Elizabeth and Henry’s children are:
Henry Read Watts. Henry was born in 1871.
Mabel Ann Butcher. Mabel was born in 1873 and married Henry George Butcher in 1903.
Edward Watts. Edward was born in 1875.
Lucy Olive Watts. Lucy was born in 1879.
Fredrick Ernest Watts. Fredrick was born in 1887.
Wykes, Sarah. Aged 14 years old. Sarah was born in 1850 in Groby, Leicestershire. SSamuel was born in Bow in the East End of London in 1847.
Sarah married Samuel Charles Streeter at Pitt Street Methodist Church in 1872. Her husband was a butcher in Karangahape Road. Sarah and Samuel had two children, Emma and Frank. She was living in Mount Eden at the time of the 1893 petition to vote
She died in 1924 and Samuel in 1927 both are buried at Waikumete cemetery.
Sarah and Samuel’s children are:
Emma Dixon. Emma was born in 1868 and married George Henry Dixon in 1888.
Elizabeth Margret Streeter. Elizabeth was born in 1873, but died a year later in Carlton, Victoria, Australia.
Ernest Frank Streeter. Ernest was born in 1884 and married Henrietta Mary Rix in 1908.
Wykes, Mary Ann. Aged 5 years old. Mary was born in 1859 in Groby, Leicestershire, she married Rev Thomas John Willis in Wellington on the 2nd of February, 1882. Thomas died in 1902, Mary lived until 16th of May, 1942, both are buried in Ormondville Cemetery, Tararua. Mary and Thomas’s children are:
Garfield Wykes Wills. Garfield was born in 1888.
Elva Mary Wills. Elva was born and died in 1889.
Webster Harold Wills. Webster was born in 1890 and married Beryl Evelyn Habday in 1914.
Arnold Leonard Wills. Arnold was born on the 27th of June, 1893 and married Grace Emily Mardsen in 1916.
Edgar John Wills. Edgar was born in 1895.
Wykes, Fredrick Read. Aged 2 years old. Fredrick was born on the 23rd of February,1862, in Rugby, England. Fredrick worked in Auckland as a Cobbler in his early years, later he became a School Master. Fredrick married Zillah Hadfield Robinson in 1894 in Rotoura, New Zealand and had a child before his wife died in 1896 from typhoid. Fredrick remarried in 1902 to Elizabeth Clark Millar. Fredrick died in 1921, and is buried next to his parents in Waikumete Cemetery, Auckland. Fredrick and Zilah’s children are:
Elva Hinemoa Waugh. Elva was born in 1895 and married Ivan Victor Waugh in 1929.
Younger, Thomas. Aged 34 years old. Thomas was born in 1830 and married Isabella Cummins in 1849 in Saint George’s Cathedral in Southwark, London. Thomas worked as a town clerk and died on the 13th of May, 1898 at Palmerston North
Younger, Isabella (nee Cummins). Aged 32 years old. Isabella was born in 1832. Thomas and Isabella had the following children:

Isabella Younger. Isabella was born in on the 25th of July, 1854. Isabella married William Atkinson on the 10th of June, 1876 in Nelson Cathedral in Nelson.
Elizabeth Collins Litchfield. Elizabeth was born in 1856 and married Arthur Budd Litchfield in 1878.
Younger, Sarah. Aged 13 years old. It is possible that Sarah was born in Sydney, Austraila.
Younger, Isabella. Aged 10 years old. Isabella was born on the 25th of July, 1854 in Sunderland, England. Isabella married William Atkinson on the 10th of June, 1876 in Nelson Cathedral in Nelson. William was born in Marlborough in 1843. William died on the 6th of July, 1935 and Isabella on the 7th of March 1838 in Christchurch. Isabella and William’s children are:

Henrietta Gertrude Younger Atkinson. Henrietta was born on the 12th of February, 1878.
Evelyn Louisa Atkinson. Evelyn was born on the 14th of February, 1880 and married James Ffode Tipping on the 6th of June, 1906.
Isabella Ethel Margret Atkinson. Isabella was born on the 23rd of June. 1881.
William Hanmer Atkinson. William was born on the 17th of August, 1882 and married Nina Miriam Wyan Green on the 29th of December, 1910.

Blanche Marchmont Atkinson. Blanche was born on the 13th of October, 1883.
Hilda Cumming Atkinson. Hilda was born on the 23rd of November, 1885.
William Thomas Harold Atkinson. William was born on the 28th of January, 1887 and married Ruth Marjorie Hay on the 22nd of April, 1914.
Mabel Iris Atkinson. Mabel was born on the 14th of March, 1888.
Younger, Elizabeth Collins. Aged 8 years old. Elizabeth was born in 1856 and christened on the 26th of October 1856 in Bishop-Wearmouth, Durham. Elizabeth married Arthur Budd Litchfield in New Plymouth on the 3rd of January, 1878. Elizabeth died in Taihape on the 27th of June 1918 and Arthur in 1923. Elizabeth and Arthur’s children are:
Frank Cummins Litchfield. Frank was born in 1880 and married Florence May Standen in 1904.
Herbert Younger Litchfield. Herbert was born in 1882 and married Florence Nicholson in 1904.
Edith Clara Litchfield. Edith was born in 1884.
Lewis Arthur Litchfield.
Ernest Melrose Litchfield. Ernest was born in 1890 and died in 1917.
Leonard Charles Litchfield. Leonard was born in 1892.
