Journals and Logs of the Bombay’s Voyage in 1864/65

The following chapters are the collected Journals, Newspaper clipping and Official Ships Log of the Bombay’s voyage from London to New Zealand on the 22nd of November 1864 and arriving 18th of March 1865. There is known to be several other journals of the voyage but they remain in private hands, and have not been able to be viewed. The following abbreviations have been used: Also collected is personal recollections of passengers which have been included from other sources.

SL- Ships Log: The Official Ships Log Book for the Bombay.

CS- Captain Sellars: The personal journal of Captain Sellars of the Bombay. Taken from extract of accounts from paper clippings when the Bombay arrived into Auckland.

TE- Thomas Eaves: The personal journal of Thomas Eaves, passenger on the Bombay

WP- W Pattison: The personal journal of W Pattison, passenger on the Bombay

JW- Jacob Wright: The personal journal of Jacob Wright, passenger on the Bombay. Jacob had training as a ships Captain. (Note only have partial account)
