They came by ship was a book written in 1965 by the Bombay Anniversary Picnic Committee to Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bombay arriving to Auckland and the settlers that settled in Williamsons Clearing.
This book was first discovered by me when visiting my grandparents every week for Sunday lunch as a we nipper. With mobile phones and computer games not yet invented, entertainment was restricted to fighting with my siblings or delving into the many nooks and crannies of my Ma and Pa’s aging Villa. This book was one of the many gems discovered and would keep me intrigued for many visits reading the stories and looking at photos of my long dead ancestors.
I have scanned and uploaded the books contents for your research and enjoyment, should you wish a original hard copy from the published 1965 book… I do collect multiple copies by saving them from obscure dusty corners of Secondhand bookshops or Trade Me. I currently have three copies to give to direct descendants seeking the book.
